However, the Bible is filled with stories of people who struggled with hopelessness but found strength in God. Their experiences remind us that no matter how dark life seems, God is always near.

What does the Bible say about Despair
The Bible talks a lot about despair and how to overcome it. Despair is when a person feels hopeless, sad, or lost, thinking that nothing will get better. Many people in the Bible went through times of deep sorrow, but God helped them find strength and hope again.
One example is David. He wrote many Psalms where he cried out to God in distress. In Psalm 42:11, David asks himself, “Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; For I shall yet praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God.” This verse shows that even in deep sadness, David chose to trust in God.
Another example is Job. He lost everything—his family, his health, and his wealth. He was so heartbroken that he wished he had never been born. But in the end, Job did not turn away from God. Instead, he said in Job 19:25, “For I know that my Redeemer lives, And He shall stand at last on the earth.” This shows that even in suffering, Job believed God had a plan for him.
Jesus also understands despair. When He was about to be crucified, He prayed in deep agony in the Garden of Gethsemane. In Matthew 26:38, He said, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death.” Yet, He trusted God’s will and gave His life to save us. This reminds us that we are never alone in our pain because Jesus Himself suffered for us.
The Bible teaches that despair is not the end. Isaiah 41:10 says, “Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” This means that even when we feel weak, God gives us the strength to keep going.
Instead of staying in despair, God wants us to trust Him. Romans 15:13 says, “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” This means that through faith, God gives us real hope.
No matter how dark things seem, the Bible reminds us that God is always near. He hears our cries, gives us peace, and promises a better future. Despair is real, but God’s love and hope are stronger.
